It’s hard to believe that we’ve finally entered spring -- which means that final exams are about one and a half months away. This may seem like a decently long time, but the reality is finals will approach in seconds. Then before you know it -- another academic year is finished, a new set of graduates enters the next chapter of their lives, and the remaining students move one step closer to graduation. Make sure you check out our spring finals exam week care packages to help lighten the load!
Spring final exams are often more difficult than winter for a number of reasons. The nice weather makes it significantly more difficult to concentrate on studying -- the willpower students have to not ditch their work and embrace the coming summer is extremely tough to achieve. The promise of summer also makes it hard not to drop everything and make plans for the coming months.
But overall, spring finals are painstaking because students are ready for a break after a long academic year and the only thing standing in the way of their summer freedom is the remaining few exams, papers, and presentations.
So without further delay, let’s discuss:
- Our top spring final exam tips
- Ready-made care packages you can send to someone (or get for yourself!)
- Ideas for creating your own spring final exam care packages

Our Top Spring Final Exam Tips
No matter what you’re studying, when you follow these tips you’ll be acing your exams in no time. Remember, you’ve got this!
Being so close to the end of the academic year, many students find that they might need a little extra motivation to make it through the end of the semester. It might seem hard to imagine, but during finals week, breaking your focus to go to the dining hall for a meal or sometimes even showering, isn’t an option for some students. Finals week does require almost all of the focus and attention students have to offer, and they will study for multiple hours straight at any given time.
But when you follow a little friendly advice, you won’t ever have to worry about being one of those students cramming the night before. In order to get the most out of your study time, it all comes down to:
- Being prepared. Make sure you know exactly what the final exam is going to entail. Typically teachers will have all this laid out in the syllabus, or will have discussed it during lecture. If you’re still concerned or want to be absolutely certain you know what to study, consider dropping by their office hours! Professors are more than happy to speak with you concerning what you should be expected to know, or help you in a specific area you’ve been having trouble with.
Pro tip: Word of caution though, be sure you’re not visiting their office just to get filled in because you missed the class. Their time is valuable, and if they’ve already explained this in the class, they’re definitely going to ask if you were in attendance! Remember, if you miss class, it’s your responsibility to learn what was covered from a classmate or from the syllabus.
- Being organized. In order to ensure you allow adequate time for studying, relaxing, and making it on time to your actual exams, it’s crucial to be organized. This means organizing your materials, the time you’re allotting to each exam, and the best ways for you to study all the material required.
Whether it’s using color coded notebooks and file folders for each class, or adjusting your meal schedule based on your final exam days and times, you’ll only help yourself out by creating schedules and lists to stay on top of it all.
- Embracing change. We could all use a change in scenery once in a while, and the same applies to your study time. When classes are over and it’s time to hunker down and study, almost any building is fair game when it comes to setting up shop -- you’re not limited to only the library!
If your dorm has work stations in the hall lobby or basement, consider checking those out while reviewing your notes. Or, see what buildings might have classrooms open and available for students to use to study. And don’t forget about your student union center or common areas in other buildings.
In addition to changing your actual location to study, it is also helpful to change up your study tactics to make sure you’re really absorbing and digesting the knowledge you need. Whether it’s making flash cards, writing practice answers, or asking a friend to quiz you, change it up and see how well you know your subjects.
- Knowing when to take breaks. Almost as important as actually studying is learning when to take breaks. You cannot and should not be studying at all hours, so organize time slots throughout the days (and nights) that are reserved for breaks. You need time away from studying to give your brain a break and to do something else. Consider watching a show, hanging with a friend for a bit, reading a book, or even taking a cat nap.
Stepping away from the text books and notes is a good way to refresh and recharge your brain so you’re ready to keep studying.
Another great way to ensure efficient and effective studying, is to ensure you’re hydrated and not running on an empty stomach. This is why it’s necessary to have snacks and other food items on hand in your dorm rooms and in your backpacks.
Student’s start to survive on these snacks, sometimes only having time for one major meal each day. Brain food is the sustenance of life! Student’s are more than thrilled when they receive a care package during these trying times. It boosts their mood, provides extra motivation, and of course enjoying all the snacks is a bonus!
